Hey friends - Adam here.
I have some exciting news to share.
I GET TO DJ LIVE AGAIN!
I am DJING live & in-person on Sunday, November 14th, for the first Revamp Detroit Clothing Swap. (Here’s the link to the FB event).
This event is Revamp’s first Detroit Community Clothing Swap and everyone is invited to come join the fun!
The event is located at: Bamboo Royal Oak (@bamboodetroit on socials)
220 S Main St,
Royal Oak, MI 48067
The idea of the event is simple: drop your unwanted threads at the sorting table upon entry, jam out to some funky beats, meet other swappers and leave with some new swag other Detroiters have contributed! Beverages will be served as well 🍻
How the event works:
$20 if you don’t bring a bag of clothing to add to the swap.
$10 if you bring a bag of clothes to add to the swap.
From here everything you find you get to keep! Pretty dope, right?
Some other tips:
BYORB - BRING YOUR OWN REUSABLE BAG!
Be sure to bring your own reusable bag or box to drop off and pick up your new clothes. Try to avoid bringing plastic, one-time use bags if possible.
BRING FRESH & CLEAN CLOTHES!
Make sure the swag you are choosing to donate are freshly laundered items. Any item that is unclean will not be accepted to the swap.
WILL DIRTY BEATS BE PROVIDED?
You already know! I’ll be DJING an hour long set for the event from 11AM-12PM.
So be prepared for some early afternoon funky ones, as the goal is to set the tone for what will be a very enjoyable day.
All the music for the event will be provided by fellow local artists!
Here’s a look at the lineup below!
Lineup:
Adam Bartley (11AM - 12PM)
Kai Beats
Break Beat Scholar
Breezeomatic
Syd Burnham
Maraj Virtuoso
Hugo Biggs
Kevin Christian
There will also be an Upcycled Fashion Show which will be an absolute riot that will take place from 2PM - 3PM.
The event will run from 11AM - 5PM.
THE BEST PART:
All excess clothing will be donated to a charitable cause called Destined for Greatness!
JOIN US.
You will have the chance to catch some live funky beats, find some new “old” threads, as well as donate to a great cause!
And come support the early startup that is my career as a musician :)
Come thru!!!
Cheers to lifelong learning,
Adam Bartley
PARTING NOTE
If you're enjoying “The Freelance Graduate Student” newsletter, I would really love it if you shared it with a homie or two. You can send them here to subscribe. I try my very best to put out creative ideas each week, and I hope you have as much fun reading them as I do writing them.
If you find any links relevant to the previous writing I have put out, or have any comments just reply to this post. This is encouraged too by the way.
Thanks ya’ll 🙏🏻
